David Warburton steps down from Somerton and Frome seat

Rishi Sunak prepares for another potentially dangerous by-election after another Conservative MP leaves resigned.

David Warburton resigned as he said he was denied a fair hearing by a parliamentary harassment watchdog investigating allegations that he made unwanted advances to two women. His decision will lead to new by-elections for Rishi Sunak, prime minister.

In his resignation letter, Mr. Warburton said he had «no choice but to provoke an election,» adding, «I hope that in this way I can freely highlight the methods of the oversight system that are not in line with the goal, so that friends and colleagues in the House could see a perverse process whereby their own judgments could be sent at any time.»

Mr Warburton denies allegations of harassment, but admitted to taking cocaine after drinking » incredibly strong» Japanese whiskey with a third woman, according to The Mail on Sunday.

He claimed she secretly filmed and photographed him after the nightly vote in the House of Commons.

Mr Warburton said: «I was set up, but I was naive and incredibly stupid.»

Daniel Greenberg, Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, accepted the political aide's claims against the MP.

A Conservative Party spokesman said: “The Independent Grievance and Grievance Scheme is an independent body created by Parliament and the Conservative Party respects its processes. Mr. Warburton was recalled on account of these complaints last April, and has not sat in Parliament as a Conservative since.» Selby and Ainsty are already scheduled for July 20 after Boris Johnson and his ally Nigel Adams stepped down.

Nadine Dorries, who also announced she was about to step down due to the fallout from the former prime minister's resignation, remains while she tries to investigate how she was denied a place on the list of Lords.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that leaked WhatsApp messages revealed that Sir Bernard Jenkin threw a drinking party for his wife.
