Cadillac is preparing Escalade IQ: new teasers ahead of the premiere

The all-electric novelty of the American brand will debut on August 9 this year in New York.

The Cadillac brand, owned by the American concern General Motors, introduced its fifth-generation Escalade SUV in February 2020. The information that this model will have an all-electric version appeared several years ago. The company officially announced this novelty at the end of last month, at the same time the first (not very informative) teaser was published. Now the manufacturer has shared a new photo and a short video.

Green Premiere version of the Cadillac Escalade will be held August 9 in New York. As it became known earlier, this electric SUV will have an increase in IQ to the name (the corresponding nameplate was on the first teaser). By the way, the company sent an application for registration of this trademark at the end of autumn 2021.

On the new teasers, the front of the Escalade IQ “lit up”. Judging by the video and photos, the lighting design of the novelty will be in the same style as other electric vehicles of the brand — Celestiq and Lyriq. The full-size SUV will have a glowing logo, broken-stripe headlights, thin lines outlining a plug in place of the grille, and vertical running lights on the sides.

The stern probably received a spoiler on the top of the tailgate, it has a horizontally elongated brake light. There is a shark fin antenna on the roof. Also in the frame were large rims of the original design (presumably, their size will be about 24 inches). By the way, earlier the Kolesa.ru designer offered his own version of the potential appearance of the electric Cadillac Escalade: we will find out whether the ideas coincided with reality closer to the end of this summer.

It is expected that the Cadillac Escalade IQ will be the “technical twin” of the GMC Hummer EV SUV introduced in the spring of 2021 (it is worth recalling that the GMC brand is also part of the GM concern). Probably, it will be based on the same Hummer BT1 platform. It is likely that the top version of the full-size «green» SUV will receive a three-engine system from the Hummer EV pickup truck: its total power is either 842 or 1014 hp. (depending on the version). Simpler variants may have twin-engine versions.

Cadillac previously reported that by the end of this year they intend to show three new items. Obviously, one of them will be the Escalade IQ SUV, the second is its IQL modification, and the third can be an entry-level electric SUV. It is expected that in the hierarchy of the «green» line of the brand, this model will be one step below the Cadillac Lyriq. Previously, photo spies have already caught a disguised prototype of this novelty on the roads during tests.

By the way, last fall a sketch of the future small “green” Cadillac SUV was published: that virtual concept was created by a General Motors designer. His name is still kept secret by the company.
