What's under the hood of OMODA S5? We look at the technical characteristics of the new sedan

Having overflowed the domestic car market with crossovers, Chinese automakers have taken up the segment of golf-class sedans. One of the latest innovations is OMODA S5. The model boasts a bright appearance, a modern interior and an impressive set of options. And what about the technical «stuffing»? Now we'll tell you everything.

Engine

The sedan received a set of two gasoline power engines.

The basic Life equipment is equipped with a one and a half liter aspirated E4G15C, outstanding 113 HP and 138 Nm of torque.

With this setting, the S5 is able to gain a hundred in 13.2 seconds. The maximum speed in this case will be equal to 180 km/h.

The motor has a distributed fuel injection and can run on 92-octane gasoline. Combined fuel consumption reaches 7.3 liters.

The Tech and Ultra versions are equipped with an E4T15B turbo engine of the same size as but developing already 147 hp. and 210 Nm of torque.

The sedan accelerates to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds, and the top speed reaches 190 km/h.

Fuel consumption in the combined cycle is not exceeds 6.9 liters. According to the passport, you can refuel «ninety-second».

Checkpoint and drive

The atmospheric engine is accompanied by the CVT18 variator, and the turbo engine is paired with the CVT25. To increase the reliability of the assembly and for more comfortable movement in traffic jams, a torque converter has been added to the transmission design.

Drive for all versions will be exclusively front.

The platform

«Eska» is built on the new M1X modular architecture, which made it possible to carve out additional space in the cabin.

And now to the numbers. The car is 4644 mm long, 1814 mm wide and 1493 mm high. In this case, the wheelbase is 2650 mm, and the ground clearance is 121 mm.

The trunk is quite large. According to the passport, its volume is 482 liters. For convenience, there is lighting, and a “stowaway” is located under the floor.

Suspension

The suspension is designed with an eye to the maximum level of comfort and safety: in front — independent McPherson, in the back — semi-independent spring with hydridelescopic shock absorbers.

The power plant and dimensions of the sedan are quite consistent with the city purpose of the car. And in combination with a spacious interior, a roomy trunk and a rich list of equipment, the S5 has every chance to repeat the success of the OMODA C5 crossover.
