The Great Wall brand Haval distributed the first branded photos of the new frame SUV in March. And in the same month, the Chinese Ministry of Industry “leaked” the model, thanks to which it turned out that the H5 index, well known to Russians, was revived for the all-terrain vehicle. So now the SUV was caught in the wild, and there is not a shred of camouflage on the car: fresh pictures were published by the local publication Yiche.

Recall that before the name H5 was worn by a car that was a modernized version of the Great Wall Hover model. The original SUV debuted back in 2005, based on the Isuzu Axiom; later, “just” Hover turned into Hover H3, followed by the Hover H5 with a different design of the front end and interior. In Russia, the SUV was first produced as the Great Wall (Irito was responsible for the assembly), then under the DW Hower brand, already at the Stavropol-Avto plant (there was a connection with the Derways company at the level of the founders). And in 2020, the production of the Haval H5 was organized at the Tula plant, but the outdated all-terrain vehicle did not last long on the assembly line.

In particular, the passenger SUV has headlights of a similar shape, the same exterior mirror housings and stampings on the sidewalls. The rear lights are original. According to the documents of the Chinese certification body, the length of the new Haval H5 is 5190 mm, the width is 1905 mm, the height is 1835 mm, the distance between the axles is the same 3140 mm as the pickup (more precisely, we are talking about a «short» truck). Thus, in terms of the length and size of the wheelbase, the “five” surpassed the Haval H9 SUV (4843 and 2800 mm, in Chinese specifications). At the same time, only a five-seat interior has been announced for the upcoming H5.
Inside the new SUV as a whole repeated a donor pickup truck, except that the “five” had the central tunnel redone, in addition, a box selector appeared, like the Tank 300. Interior features — separate screens for tidy and a multimedia system, a push-button control panel for the “climate”.
Haval H5 was certified with a 2.0 petrol turbo engine with 224 hp. At the same time, local media also tipped the SUV a two-liter turbodiesel with a return of 166 or 197 hp. Boxes are likely to move from King Kong, we are talking about a six-speed manual and automatic. Rear-wheel drive or hard-wired full.

In China, sales of the new Haval H5 will begin this year. The manufacturer has not yet announced plans to supply the model to other countries.
