Credit: AP/Kin Cheung The BBC failed to show the start of Novak Djokovic's first round match on Center Court due to an apparent technical problem, prompting immediate ire from Wimbledon spectators when coverage began.
Djokovic's match against Argentina's Pedro Cachin was not shown in the BBC Two report, and on iPlayer there was just a black screen where the game was supposed to be broadcast.
The BBC iPlayer showed a black screen when viewers tried to watch the first games of Djokovic in the first match at Wimbledon
It seems that in the system has gremlins preventing the broadcast from being broadcast, although the BBC has yet to figure out what went wrong.
A viewer tweeted: “Wimbledon is in the UK and BBC iPlayer can't show Djokovic vs Kachin. Are we living in the Middle Ages?”
The problems with the iPlayer continued for several games, starting with the first set on Center Court.
BBC One eventually tuned in, but Djokovic, who is on his way to a record eighth title after defeating Nick Kyrgios in last year's final, was already on the brink of collapse.
A BBC spokesman told The Telegraph: “We are aware of a technical issue with some of the Wimbledon matches being broadcast on the BBC iPlayer. We're working on fixing this as soon as possible.»
Djokovic's match appeared briefly on iPlayer later in the first set, after which the screen went black again and a «Coming Soon» message appeared.

The iPlayer match later seemed to be going smoothly, but the game was stopped due to rain near the end of the first set. The technical failure was fixed by 14:30.
