Avito Auto experts analyzed the dynamics of the market for used cars under 3 years old in the second quarter of 2023 in Russia. According to the platform, sales of three-year cars in April-June of this year increased by 59.3% compared to the same period last year. The most demanded models in the segment were VAZ (LADA) Granta, VAZ (LADA) Vesta, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris and Kia K5. It is noteworthy that these same models made up the top 5 best-selling three-year-olds last quarter.
According to Avito Auto, the average price of a three-year-old used car in the second quarter of 2023 was 2,496,000 rubles. The best-selling brands of three-year cars in April-June were (in descending order of sales share): VAZ (LADA), Kia, Hyundai, Toyota and BMW.
Three-year cars accounted for 11.1% of total car sales with mileage in Russia in the II quarter of this year. A year earlier, the figure was 9.2%.
Three-year-old cars are becoming an alternative to new ones from the showroom for many buyers. This is facilitated not only by the lower price compared to a new car, but also by other factors. So, often three-year-olds have low mileage, and, as a rule, have modern technical characteristics. In addition, such cars still have a manufacturer's warranty. Now the market is quite saturated with cars under the age of 3 years, including due to the import of used cars from abroad. For example, to date, over 68,000 advertisements for the sale of cars with mileage under the age of 3 years have been posted on Avito Auto. The best-selling used car model under 3 years old in the II quarter of 2023 in Russia became VAZ (LADA) Granta. The model accounted for 5.2% of sales in the three-year segment, the average price was 775,000 rubles.
The second line of the rating is occupied by VAZ (LADA) Vesta with an average price of 1,150,000 rubles and a sales share of 3.1% .
In third place is Toyota Camry with a sales share of 2.7%. The average price was 3,250,000 rubles.
The fourth position is taken by Hyundai Solaris, the average price was 1,550,000 rubles. The model accounted for 2.3% of sales in the three-year segment.
The fifth place is occupied by the Kia K5 with a sales share of 2% and an average price of 2,542,000 rubles.
Also in the top 10 Top-selling three-year-old car models included Kia Rio, Volkswagen Polo, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Creta.
