Stellantis Corporation announced the imminent end of production of the Ram 1500 TRX super pickup truck, equipped with a unique chassis and a 712-horsepower V8 compressor engine, but not Saying goodbye to the acronym TRX, which means that in the future there will be a new daring and powerful model — this time, most likely, all-electric.
The Ram 1500 TRX debuted in August 2020 and marks the pinnacle of Ram's petrol pickup evolution, with Stellantis equipping it with the legendary supercharged 6.2-liter V8 HEMI rated at 712 hp. and 881 Nm, thanks to which the Ram 1500 TRX remains the most powerful stock «hydrocarbon» pickup on the market to this day. Introduced in 2022, the Ford F-150 Raptor R is slightly weaker, with its 5.2-liter V8 Predator producing 710 hp. and 868 Nm, General Motors Corporation still does not have such powerful gasoline pickups and is unlikely to have any.
>The abbreviation TRX does not mean anything definite, the version that Tyrannosaurus Rex stands behind it (it is believed that he was the most dangerous predator dinosaur) is not official, although Stellantis PR people like it very much, they themselves call the Ram 1500 TRX «the highest predator «. In fact, the name for the top version of the Ram 1500 was chosen during a brainstorming session in a very limited time, before the TRX acronym stood for an off-road package for Ram pickups, and it was simply taken from the archive so as not to waste time and money registering something new.
In addition to the powerful engine, the Ram 1500 TRX received a huge number of unique details: its frame and suspension are, in fact, completely new, designed to withstand the increased and shock loads that are inevitable when driving fast off-road. Under the hood, in addition, there is a trash can for dust and dirt flying into the car. More details about the design features of the Ram 1500 TRX can be found in our separate note, here we will only briefly say that it has a ground clearance of 300 mm, acceleration to 60 mph (96.56 km/h) takes 4.5 s, maximum speed limit is 190 km/h.
The press and fans of the Ram brand received the TRX very warmly, the reviews from the test drives were and remain enthusiastic, the model quickly became a cult and collector's item, and the price was regularly increased. If at the start of sales for the Ram 1500 TRX they asked for $ 69,995, now it costs $ 85,050 in the «base», and for the farewell version of the Final Edition you will have to pay at least $ 117,625 plus $ 1995 for shipping.

Standard equipment includes a powerful 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a projection screen, a digital rearview mirror, power front seat adjustments and a rich suite of electronic driver assistants, including adaptive cruise control.The Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition is for the 2024 model year but will end production at the end of 2023. The entire batch of 4,000 farewell cars planned for production will quickly be sold, but the company will release some more of the regular 1,500 TRX, so everyone has a chance to have this outstanding oil truck in their garage.
The Stellantis press release says that this is not the end of the story for TRX, but only the end of a particular chapter, which means that there will be some new TRX. Next year, the electric Ram 1500 REV will hit the market — probably the new TRX will be made based on it.
