Ryan Gravenberch flying in for medical after Liverpool agree £34m fee with Bayern

Liverpool's midfield renovation is nearing completion after they agreed a £34m fee for Ryan Gravenberch with Bayern.

On Friday, Gravenbirch will undergo a medical examination and become the fourth midfield player of the summer. Five senior midfielders have left since last season — and Arthur Melo also left at the end of his loan — now Jurgen Klopp's promise of a complete centralized reset has been fulfilled.

Liverpool have been eyeing Gravenbergh for months but have been unable to. Initially, Bayern discouraged his sale this summer. That stance has shifted in recent days and by asking to be kept up to date on his availability, Liverpool have been in an excellent position to close a deal amid interest from Manchester United.

Gravenberch made no secret of his desire to move to the Premier League, although he struggled to succeed in Germany. Liverpool has been his favorite destination as he will join his international teammates Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk.

The 21-year-old has spent most of his career at number 8. His preference is to play on the left front midfielder. However, one of the reasons Liverpool have moved forward with the deal is because they believe in his versatility. It is possible that in the future he will become a deeper midfielder.

His arrival is part of a massive renovation. Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner are gone. Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Soboschlai and Wataru Endo have joined the squad, and Liverpool have several high-profile young players vying for the midfield role, such as Harvey Elliott, Stefan Baicetić and Curtis Jones. Klopp also still has Thiago Alcantara, whose contract is entering the final year.

Gravenberch is seen as a long-term contract, who has been hired at a good price now so that Liverpool won't have to re-enter the market next summer. Given the high prices of the midfielders, the club believes they were doing sound business despite losing to some high-profile targets such as Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will resist any bid for Mohamed Salah. deadline, no matter how much the Saudi Pro League is willing to offer. Club sources are adamant they will not enter into any negotiations during this transfer window.
