The Japanese brand's large luxury crossover will debut tomorrow, September 6th. The presentation will be held online.
Production of the executive sedan Toyota Century started in 1967. The model has been on the market for more than half a century, despite this, the “four-door” has only changed generation a couple of times. So, the current third generation Century appeared on the home market in the summer of 2018 (the model also has an open top version). To date, the sedan is produced only in Japan and is not supplied to other markets. However, the family will soon expand with a luxury crossover, and this model will most likely already be global.

Note that Toyota still has not confirmed that the new product will be named the Century SUV, while the corresponding information appeared in the Japanese media at the beginning of this year. Although there was indirect confirmation: in June, during the presentation of the new generation Alphard and Vellfire minivans, the manufacturer highlighted the silhouette of the upcoming crossover, and it was shown immediately after the slide with the current Toyota Century sedan.
The first official teaser of the Toyota Century SUV
At the end of last month, the first official photo of the new Toyota crossover appeared: this teaser showed the sidewall and part of the stern, chrome decorative elements, bifurcated taillights, traditional door handles and concise plastic lining on the wheel arches are visible.

Now, in anticipation of the premiere, which will take place tomorrow, the manufacturer has published another SUV teaser: this time it shows the front end. Judging by the picture, the car will have a bifurcated head optics with rectangular elements, “underlined” by LED running lights. The photo also partially shows a pentagonal grille with a pattern in the form of relatively small cells. In the center is the Century logo (another confirmation of the assumption regarding the name of the novelty), which is made in the form of a phoenix. It is worth noting that this emblem has not changed much since 1967.

The interior of the new crossover is still kept secret in the company. Judging by the previous teaser, where the hand of a personal driver in a white glove is visible, the model will enter the luxury segment, and special attention will be paid to the second row of seats, where the main passenger will be located. The Toyota Century SUV is expected to have a two-row interior. According to preliminary data, the length of the novelty may be 5.2 meters, and the wheelbase — about 3 meters.

There is still no official information about the technique. According to unconfirmed reports, the future SUV of the Century family is based on the GA-K platform, which also underlies the large Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX crossovers. It is assumed that the novelty will be equipped with a hybrid installation. Note that the Grand Highlander is based on a 2.4-liter gasoline turbo engine, working in tandem with an electric motor and a six-speed automatic; the total return is 367 hp. (542 Nm).
The cost of the Toyota Century SUV will be known later, while the Japanese media have shared an estimated price tag — the purchase will cost 100 — 130 thousand dollars. It is worth noting that the current Century sedan in the home market costs at least 137 thousand dollars.
