Adam Peaty was left bloodied in a brawl with a teammate from Great Britain after hitting him in the butt during training camp ahead of next summer's Olympics.
Battle between swimming legend Peaty and Luke Greenbank has sparked reports that she was provoked to ridicule the latter's partner, Anna Hopkin, who is also a member of Team GB.
But this has since been vehemently denied by several sources, who have disputed the report that Hopkin was Peaty's ex-girlfriend, while confirming that there was an altercation at the British Swimming Organization's headquarters in Loughborough on Friday after the three-time Olympic champion joked and hit Greenbank on the back.
A photo surfaced on Tuesday showing Petey, who the same sources confirmed was in need of medical attention, with two wounds above his left eye.
But they denied speculation that he needed stitches or that his the quarrel with Greenbank had any meaning. to do with Hopkins.
One of them added: “Anna Hopkins was never in a relationship with Adam Peaty. This whole love triangle story is nonsense.”
It is reported that after that the couple even shook hands, while both the athletes and British swimming considered the matter closed.
A statement from the governing body said: «An incident occurred at a recent training session that was quickly and effectively resolved by the participating athletes and staff present at the session.»
Piti, who retained his Olympic title in the 100 meters two years ago breaststroke and Greenbank together won the silver medal in the 4x100m medley at Tokyo 2020. .

Greenbank is also a member of Peaty's «The AP Race Club.»
Petey and Greenbank representatives declined to comment. In March, Peaty took a break from swimming to focus on his mental health and well-being.
After withdrawing from the UK Swimming Championships in April, he said: “A good friend of mine said that a gold medal is the coldest thing. you ever wear… because you think it will solve all your problems, [and] it doesn't.»
