Sanna Marin, former Finnish Prime Minister filed to resign as an MP to join the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
Marin, 37, announced on Thursday that she is joining a nonprofit organization founded by Blair to advise political leaders as a «strategy consultant.» She said: «The decision was not easy, but I believe it was the right one.»
She does not rule out a return to Finnish politics in the future, but noted that she cannot combine her work as an MP with her new job at the think tank .
Mr Blair, the former prime minister, said: “Our mission is to help political leaders around the world bring about change for their people – and Sanna Marin knows exactly how to do it.
Fiercely critical of Russia's war in Ukraine, Ms Marin brought Finland into NATO and was linked to a possible candidacy for the presidency of the European Commission until Thursday's announcement.
Her glamorous social media account and apparent love of music festivals led Ms Marin to be called «the coolest prime minister in the world» before she lost an election in April.
The leader of the centre-left Social Democratic Party made world headlines last August after videos of her dancing with friends, celebrities and social media influencers were leaked online.
Ms Marin, the world's youngest prime minister, passed a drug test when she took office at the age of 34 in 2019 to prove she was clean after this episode.
