At the moment, the second-generation frame all-terrain vehicle is presented with a single gasoline engine, later the range should be expanded.
In Russia, the BAIC BJ40 SUV is just beginning its career; for our country, cars are assembled by Kaliningrad Avtotor. In China, the model has been in service since 2013; it is sold under the Beijing brand. In August, the second generation SUV debuted in its homeland, and today they announced preliminary prices and opened orders.

In the new generation, the all-terrain vehicle retained the frame structure and continuous rear axle. But the “motives” of the Jeep Wrangler are no longer there: the BJ40 has a more solid appearance and an all-metal body (the previous SUV had a removable plastic top, external hinges and massive arches). By the way, if only the four-door version is currently available in the Russian Federation, then in China its predecessor still has a short version, plus a pickup truck is available there. The new Beijing BJ40 will not have such a variety of modifications.
The design features of the “second” model are headlights fused with the radiator grille (the grille is also framed by luminous stripes), frameless doors and rear lights in the shape of the letters F. Another feature is the tailgate, it consists of a rising glass and a hinged side.
In its dimensions, the fresh BAIC Beijing BJ40 surpassed the first generation model presented to us: the length of the new product is 4790 mm, width — 1940 mm, height — 1895 mm, wheelbase — 2760 mm (dimensions of the Russian SUV: 4645 /1925/1871 mm, distance between axles – 2745 mm). The passport ground clearance of the “second” BJ40 is 230 mm.

In the cabin there is a recessed virtual instrument panel and a two-story central tunnel; two multimedia system screens were installed on the front panel. The list of equipment also includes a panoramic roof, all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, auto braking and lane keeping systems.
The new BAIC Beijing BJ40 is currently available in the City Hunter version with a 2.0 petrol turbo-four that produces 245 hp. and 395 Nm. The engine is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The SUV has an all-wheel drive transmission with a rigid connection to the front axle and a reduction gear; in addition, the model is equipped with rear and front differential locks. Later, the SUV will receive a diesel engine, and there will also be a hybrid version.
1/3 2/3 3/3 < p>Price of the “second” BJ40 now ranges from 200,000 to 250,000 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 2,627,000 — 3,283,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. For comparison, a frame Tank 300 in China today costs 199,800 — 226,800 yuan (about 2,624,000 — 2,979,000 rubles). However, do not forget that the Beijing BJ40 price list is still preliminary, that is, real prices will be slightly lower. Although the top-end BAIC SUV will still probably be more expensive than the richest Tank 300. The previous BJ40 is not leaving China yet, it costs from 159,800 yuan (2,099,000 rubles). In Russia, the first generation all-terrain vehicle today costs from 4,059,000 rubles.
