The company also announced that it will stop accepting orders for the future compact electric car at the end of this week, September 30.
The Atom project started in December 2020: then the presentation of the compact electric car Kama-1 took place. That prototype was created by specialists from the “Computer Engineering Center” of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, and KAMAZ was the technological partner. Let us remind you that Kama-1 remained in a single copy. In a sense, the current Atom can be considered the heir to the Kama-1 project. The future Russian electric car appeared in the first teaser in the fall of 2022.

The new project is being implemented by JSC Kama, a company registered in Naberezhnye Chelny in 2021. The full debut of the Atom electric car, although still in concept status, took place in May of this year. Then the manufacturer noted that the production version of the compact hatchback will borrow a lot from the show car presented in the spring.
It is worth recalling that the length of the concept is 3995 mm, width – 1780 mm, and height – 1615 mm. It received hinged doors, retractable door handles, original wheels shod with low-profile tires, running lights in the form of a thin strip, a body-colored cap, as well as linings on the wheel arches made of black plastic.

As previously reported, the Atom electric train will have an original locally developed platform. Now the company has decided to publish images of the prototype “trolley”, which will form the basis of the serial “green” hatchback. The press service of the Atom brand said that now “functional samples of the platform” have already been created and are being prepared for testing.
Prototype of the Atom electric vehicle platform
In total, Atom sent thirteen functional samples of the “trolley” for testing, created by engineers of the Russian company. It is reported that they will be tested at special testing sites located in the Russian Federation and China.
< p>The manufacturer said the testing phase will include «chassis tuning, steering and braking system calibration, thermostat and electric motor tuning, and ADAS system calibration.» It is known that the tests should be completed in less than a year, in mid-2024.
Even earlier, the manufacturer noted that the electric motor and traction battery of the Atom electric car will also be of Russian design; for example, the batteries should be supplied by the Renera company, part of the Rosatom state corporation. So far, there is little information about the serial “electric train”: it is known that the rated range on one charge will be approximately 500 km, and the five-door will need seven seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds”.
The launch of the new product into the series is scheduled for 2025, while Atom opened pre-orders at the end of July. Now the manufacturer has announced the end date for collecting pre-bookings — orders will last only until the end of this week and will end on September 30. At the end of last month it became known that Atom was going to produce electric cars at the Moskvich plant, which previously belonged to the Renault Group.
