The Italian brand Alfa Romeo now belongs to the young auto giant Stellantis. One of the first items on the list of tasks facing the brand's management is achieving financial sustainability. The concern's head office believes that electrification of the model range and the release of mass models will help with this. At the same time, Alfa Romeo does not plan to completely abandon the development and production of sports cars, although they admit that this is not a matter of the near future.

The brand produced its lightweight mid-engine sports car Alfa Romeo 4C in coupe and spider body styles from 2013 to 2020. It became known back in 2019 that the production of the model had been decided to be curtailed. Let's remember that the 4C made a sudden comeback last summer, albeit in the form of a collector's edition. An important step for Alfa Romeo was the recent presentation of the 33 Stradale supercar, which received a design in the spirit of the 1967 model of the same name. Let us remind you that the company will offer a new product with a choice of gasoline and electric power plants. In 2024, the brand intends to introduce a small “green” SUV, followed by all-electric replacements for the Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover. In the context of further electrification of the model range, the brand intends to introduce larger sedans and SUVs, aimed primarily at the Chinese and American markets.
In addition, it is expected that the Alfa Romeo 4C sports car will have a replacement with an all-electric “filling”. According to the British publication Autocar, this successor could be given the name 4E and the addition of Spider to it. It is assumed that the letter E is a reference to the electrical technology of the future new product, and in order to attract the attention of fans of the brand, the heir was left with a recognizable four in the name.

Most likely, the appearance of the Alfa Romeo 4E will borrow a lot from the new 33 Stradale, for example, a new branded cap in place of the radiator grille, a raised hood with front fenders, and the expressive design of the rear may also be similar. It is expected that the developers will pay a lot of attention to aerodynamics, including an air intake in the front part, which can change shape and optimize air flow depending on wind speed.
According to preliminary data, the future electric sports car will be based on the STLA Medium platform, owned by Stellantis. The new Peugeot e-3008 is based on it, and it has also been prepared for the upcoming “green” Alfa Romeo Giulia. There is no information yet on the power of the 4E power plant, as well as data on the capacity of the traction battery. It is expected that the range on one charge of such an electric car will exceed 800 km. In addition, the publication noted that the 4E will probably take about two seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds” of about two seconds.
According to Alfa Romeo top manager Daniel Guzzafame, cited by Autocar , a new Alfa Romeo sports car with the yet unconfirmed name 4E will appear no earlier than 2027. In the meantime, fans of the brand are waiting for more “mass” models.
