Whether equipped with passive shock absorbers, magnetic ride control or adaptive air suspension, the vehicles were recalled for their rear suspension. According to documents filed with federal regulators, a supplier of outer control arm bolts may have deteriorated during heat treatment. Improperly machined heat-treated bolts will weaken over time, causing fractures that cause the rear wheels to misalign.
It is believed that both left and right rear external camber control arm bolts were improperly manufactured by Acument employees Global Technologies.
While working at the Arlington Assembly Plant in Texas, a GM employee determined that 223 vehicles may have been assembled with improperly heat-treated bolts. Of these, 189 were sold in the United States.
The vehicles being recalled as part of the campaign were assembled between June 19, 2023 and June 27, 2023. Dealers have already been instructed to replace both rear suspension outer control arm bolts with bolts.
