Bure predicted the future of Russian hockey in conditions of suspension

Special Representative of the Hockey Federation Russia (FHR) on international issues, member of the board of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) Pavel Bure told reporters that hockey is developing very well in Russia, as he noted, in his time there were not such a large number of skating rinks.
“»Today is All-Russian Hockey Day. Hockey in Russia is developing, skating rinks are being built. If you take the time when I was growing up, there were not so many skating rinks. Now there are many more of them. A lot of children play hockey in Russia, and if so, then we have in the future there will be stars. Hockey is the most popular sport in Russia. In our country, in all generations there have been world-class stars. Today the situation is the same. Schools are working, educating new generations. We will — as we have been all our lives — leaders in the world hockey,» Bure said.
In March, the IIHF extended the suspension of the Russian and Belarus national teams from international tournaments for the 2023/24 season. Teams missed the 2022 and 2023 World Championships. The ratings of the Russian and Belarusian teams have been frozen.
