Garages Hotz, a Swiss Peugeot dealer from the commune of Travers, presented a limited special version of the popular Peugeot 208 hatchback, Rallye, designed in the spirit of inexpensive classic hot — hatches of the French brand.
The genre of inexpensive sports hatchbacks in Europe has practically disappeared due to strict environmental doctrine. Toyota remained an adherent of this genre with its Yaris hatchback, which has two sports versions at once — the relatively budget GR Sport and the cool all-wheel drive GR Yaris. Volkswagen is still producing the Polo GTI, and that’s about it. The Peugeot brand, part of the Stellantis corporation, has long abandoned small sports hatchbacks, but meanwhile interest in them has not waned — the news about the Peugeot 208 Rallye, made on its own initiative by a Swiss dealer, has spread across almost all European automotive media.

Garages Hotz is positioning the Peugeot 208 Rallye as a successor to the mid-80s Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 mid-engined rally car, but that's overkill. The analogy with the road Peugeot 106 Rallye from the 90s seems much more logical to us — this inexpensive model on stamped wheels had rally-style decor and rather modest gasoline engines — 1.3 liters (98 hp) or 1.6 liters ( 103 hp). The Swiss Peugeot 208 Rallye was concocted in the same vein.
The Peugeot 208 Rallye is made on the basis of a pre-restyling hatchback and has a completely standard technical filling — a 1.2-liter petrol turbo engine with a power of 100 hp. paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The French hatchback with this power unit reaches the first “hundred” in 9.9 seconds, the maximum speed is 188 km/h, the curb weight is 1165 kg.

The uniqueness of the Rallye version is created by the rally white color with decorative stripes of the Peugeot Talbot Sport team, 16-inch white steel wheels and the inscription 208 Rallye on the rear pillars. The fabric seats in the cabin have red stitching, the Peugeot inscription on the steering wheel and the gear shift pattern on the knob of the lever are also filled in red, the door cards are decorated with carbon fiber inserts and red decorative stripes. An additional similarity between the Peugeot 208 Rallye and its ancestor 106 Rallye from the 90s is given by simple halogen headlights with a yellow glow.

For the Peugeot 208 Rallye, the Swiss dealer asks 24,500 francs (25,600 euros in current course), while a standard restyled hatchback with a similar power unit costs in Switzerland from 20,200 francs (21,110 euros).
