Women ministers used feminists when taking the oath, calling into question the legitimacy of the government
In Warsaw on December 13, the new Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk and members of his cabinet were sworn in. After this, the judge of the Constitutional Court, Mariusz Muszynski, doubted: “Does Poland have a legitimate government?” The publication Rzeczpospolita published an article with exactly this title.
The judge noticed that the three female ministers did not exactly repeat the text of the oath. Thus, Barbara Nowacka (Minister of Education) and Katarzyna Kotula (Minister of Equality) said that they were taking office as “ministers” instead of “ministers”. And Mazhena Okla-Drewnowicz (Minister for the Elderly) made a mistake with the correct name of her position.
According to the Constitution of Poland, the text of the oath begins with the sentence “In assuming the office of Prime Minister (Deputy Prime Minister, Minister) I I solemnly swear…”
Muszynski explains that “two of the ladies made a conscious change in the text of the oath, and the third probably made a mistake.” Meanwhile, without an oath, the minister cannot legally act. The judge is convinced: the three women assumed positions that do not exist, which means that all the documents they signed are invalid.
There is a known case when the inauguration ceremony of Barack Obama in 2009 was repeated the next day due to an incorrectly pronounced speeches.
