Another updated Cadillac CT5: no V6, but selling even better

Sales of the modernized four-door will start in China. There the model is offered with one engine and only rear-wheel drive, while in the States the range is wider.

The Cadillac CT5 sedan has been in service since 2019, its production has been established in the USA and the Middle Kingdom. At the same time, China is the main market for the model: from January to November 2023, more than 75,000 four-door cars were sold there, while in the States, dealers sell an average of 1,500 cars monthly (in the US, GM provides quarterly statistics, the result of the CT5 in January is September — only 14,397 units). However, the sedan, which survived the planned restyling, made its debut overseas — the premiere was held in the fall at the Detroit Auto Show. However, in America sales will start only in the spring of 2024, but Chinese customers can purchase the refreshed Cadillac CT5 starting today.

Outside and inside, the sedan intended for the People's Republic of China has changed in the same way as its American brother. The model received vertical headlight blocks instead of horizontal ones (matrix optics, with the exception of the “base”), while retaining the diode “fangs” of the running lights. The front bumper and radiator grille were also retouched. As in the USA, in China the CT5 still has a “sporty” version (yellow car in company pictures), its features are a mesh grille and extended black decor.

A single curved display with a diagonal of 33 inches was installed in the cabin; it has a 9K resolution and a Qualcomm 8155 chip. The list of equipment also includes a head-up display, wireless charging for a smartphone, heated and ventilated front seats (plus a massage function). Of course, the equipment also includes modern security systems and electronic assistants.

The technology of the Chinese Cadillac CT5 is the same: the sedan is offered with a non-alternative 2.0 petrol turbo-four (237 hp ., 350 Nm), which is paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. In the Middle Kingdom, the model comes only with rear-wheel drive; the “sportier” four-door has adaptive shock absorbers. Note that in the USA, the sedan also has a biturbo V6 3.0 with a power of 340 hp, in addition, there you can choose all-wheel drive for an additional fee.

The price of the updated Cadillac CT5 varies from 289,700 to 341,700 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 3,672,000 — 4,331,000 rubles at the current exchange rate.
