The Gorky Moscow Art Theater expressed condolences over the death of Yuri Solomin

MOSCOW, January 11. The staff of the Gorky Moscow Art Theater expressed condolences on the death of People's Artist of the USSR, artistic director of the Maly Theater Yuri Solomin, calling him a legend.
Solomin died on Thursday at the age of 88. Farewell to him will be held at the Maly Theater on January 15, after which the artist will be buried at Troekurovskoye Cemetery in Moscow.

“The Gorky Moscow Art Theater team expresses its deepest condolences on the death of Yuri Methodyevich Solomin to his family and friends, friends, colleagues, students and the entire staff of the Maly Theater. Yuri Methodyevich Solomin is a legend. His film roles brought him popular love and forever went down in history world cinema. Each of his acting and director's work is an example of the highest skill, talent and sincere respect for the audience,» says a message on the theater's Telegram channel.

The theater also noted that over the years of teaching, Solomin raised more than one generation of artists, and during his artistic leadership, “The Maly Theater established its fame as one of the best stages in our country.” “The bright memory of Yuri Methodievich Solomin will forever remain in our hearts,” concluded the Gorky Moscow Art Theater.

Condolences were also expressed at the Mossovet Theater. “With his death, Russian art suffered a severe irreparable loss… Not only an outstanding artist, but also one of the most respected and noble people in Russia, a true Russian intellectual, a man who was a moral tuning fork for all of us, has passed away,” says the Telegram channel theater
The theater noted that Solomin “was an actor by the grace of God,” an excellent teacher, a wise theater director, to whom he devoted his entire life. “Everything that Yuri Methodievich did was marked by his generous, bright talent, the unique light of his large-scale personality. We will all miss him very much. We mourn with you. We ask you to convey our condolences to the family and friends of Yuri Methodievich Solomin,” concluded the theater
Yuri Solomin was born on June 18, 1935 in Chita. Since 1961, he taught at the Shchepkin Higher Theater School and was a professor in the acting department. As a director, Solomin worked at the Maly Theater and on television. He played in almost 60 films and TV series, such as “His Excellency’s Adjutant”, “Walking in Torment”, “An Ordinary Miracle”, “The Bat”.
