The presentation of the new product from the Chinese brand took place during a recent meeting with members of the Omoda fan club. The local representative office has withheld technical details for now.
In China, Omoda is one of the series of the “mother” brand Chery, while in a number of other countries, including the Russian market, Omoda is a separate brand. Its first-born in the Russian Federation was the C5 crossover (details about this model are in our test drive), sales of this SUV started in the fall of 2022. Next, in the spring of last year, the S5 sedan entered the market, and in September the family was replenished with its sports version — the S5 GT. Soon the Russian line will be expanded with another new product — the Omoda E5 SUV.

The local representative office of the brand said that sales of the new product will start this coming spring; a more precise release date for the Omoda E5 on the market will appear later. So far, the company has held a presentation of the crossover “in a narrow circle” – as part of a meeting with members of the Omoda fan club. Most of the technical details are still kept secret, but you can look at live photos of the exterior and interior of the SUV.

Recall that Omoda E5 became the first completely electric model of the brand. In fact, this SUV is a “green” version of the C5 crossover already presented in the Russian Federation. The announcement of this new product appeared back in June 2023, then the model was designated as Omoda C5 EV.
< p>The “electrocross” has several noticeable visual differences from the variants with internal combustion engines. Thus, the Omoda E5 has a large plug in place of the traditional radiator grille, visually reminiscent of a large, wide “X”. A large air intake with a pattern of vertical thin lines is integrated into the lower part of the front bumper. The design of the stern differs only due to the absence of exhaust pipes.
The salon is decorated slightly differently. The multifunction steering wheel with a truncated “bottom” remains the same. There is also a large horizontal display that combines a virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen of the infotainment system (the diagonal of both displays is 10.25 inches). The ventilation deflectors and the central tunnel are designed differently: it has lost the gear lever and received a differently organized niche for wireless charging of smartphones.

There is no new information about the technology yet. The capacity of the Omoda E5 traction battery is still not declassified at the local representative office of the brand, but it is known that the range on one charge of the “green” crossover is 430 km. True, it is not yet clear which cycle the calculations were based on. It is reported that battery consumption is 15.5 kW/h per 100 km. The SUV can use fast charging, which allows you to replenish the battery from 20% to 80% in half an hour.
Recall that the Omoda C5, offered in the Russian Federation, can be either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. In the first case, it is equipped with a gasoline 1.5-liter turbo engine with a power of 147 hp. (torque – 210 Nm), which works in tandem with a CVT. In the second case, the model comes with a 150-horsepower 1.6-liter TGDI turbo-four (275 Nm); it comes with a seven-speed robot with two wet clutches.
