
ALMA-ATA, February 1 The first space constellation for Internet access will be formed in the Russian Federation in 2026 — this will provide fast and cheap Internet throughout the country, the head said Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev.
“We will also pay special attention to the development of space constellations for access to the Internet. Our first constellation, 4 devices, for use in a highly elliptical orbit will be formed in 2026, the devices will be launched. This will allow us to provide fast and cheap Internet throughout the country,” — Shadayev said at the SCO digital forum, which is being held as part of Digital Almaty.
The minister noted that by 2030, Russia plans to complete the first stage of creating a large constellation that will be used in low orbits. “We plan to withdraw about 700 devices,” he added.
Shadayev also spoke about other priorities until 2030, which will be implemented within the framework of the national program “Data Economy”. Thus, the Ministry of Digital Development plans to provide LTE access in all settlements, including small ones.
«We also plan to implement LTE by 2030 along all federal roads, and in large cities we plan to develop fixed networks with taking into account the growth of traffic, so that in every apartment building the subscriber can receive a speed of at least 1 Gb/s. We also plan to develop 5G in megacities, but on the basis of Russian base stations,» the minister noted.
The International Forum Digital Almaty 2024 is taking place in Kazakhstan from February 1 to 3. This year the event is held under the motto “Industry X: the digital evolution of the future.” The forum was attended by government officials from the SCO and EAEU countries, leading experts and entrepreneurs. The purpose of the event is to exchange experiences and ideas aimed at creating a new era of the digital industry.
