MOSCOW, 2 Feb. The collection of stories “Life for one’s own”, edited by Zakhar Prilepin, was presented at the international exhibition and forum “Russia” at VDNKh. The book includes stories of participants in a special military operation.
< br />«»It is extremely important to record it at the moment of an event. If there is no recording, then even the most heroic does not remain in the national memory,” noted writer Zakhar Prilepin. “And today we are present at one of the very first steps, when tragic, painful events take place.” events become part of the national myth.»
The book was published by the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation. “The idea of this project was born when we held the first forum “Defenders of the Fatherland”. Then veterans of a special military operation from all over Russia gathered, and they told amazing, often instructive stories from their lives,” said Anna Tsivileva, chairman of the foundation.
The hero of the story by Alexei Pestovsky without communication led 30 people out of the encirclement and did not tell anyone except the author about his feat.
< br />“»This story is still before our eyes. This is exactly the heroism that happens every day behind the ribbon of the Northern Military District,» emphasized Alexey Pestovsky, who volunteered for the front.
The collection includes the story “Targeted” by Dmitry Lygin about a boy Nikita who survived under fire. The author went to the Northern Military District zone as a volunteer, served as commander of a mortar battery, and was awarded the medal «For Courage».
““I’m invited to schools, and when I tell this story, everyone listens in silence, a tear rolls down from the teachers,” the warrior shared.
“Sometimes they ask questions: “We should have started (SVO — Approx. ed.) or not?» Of course, it is necessary,” says the author Dmitry Voronin, who also volunteered in March 2022, was a deputy battalion commander and was awarded the medal “For Courage” and the Order of Courage. “The book is the basis for our population could unite.»
< br />Critic Alexey Kolobrodov, who led the editorial team, called the work on the collection “a great honor and a huge responsibility.”
«»The material was varied, shocking in its sincerity, depth, spontaneity. We observed certain conditions. For example, it was necessary to leave live speech, cultural expressions characteristic only of this situation, it was impossible to go into great artistry and supply it with unnecessary literary stuff,» — said the editor.
The book is also illustrated by the participants of the special operation and their relatives. One of the drawings is of little Ruslan, he managed to give it to his dad, Hero of Russia Dmitry Semenov, before his death.
““Our guys, who were presented to the Lord, will not be able to talk about their feat, and those who are alive will not talk, because they are very modest. We are the ones who should talk about this,” said the hero’s widow, Ksenia Semenova.
