MOSCOW, February 7 The ban on disembarking animals without an owner from trains is planned to be extended to electric trains, said Deputy General Director of Russian Railways Ivan Kolesnikov at a meeting of the State Duma working group on improving the rules for transporting passengers with animals.
“
"The rules that we have defined also apply to suburban transportation. The only thing is that this will require us to carry out a certain number of corporate procedures,” he explained.
Kolesnikov recalled that among the shareholders of most of the suburban companies, in addition to Russian Railways, there are also regions.
«Of course, we will agree on these changes in the prescribed manner. I am sure that there will be no contradictions in this regard. But the current regulatory documents will apply to all suburban companies,» Kolesnikov added.
Question The rules for transporting animals in Russia became widely discussed after the high-profile case with the cat Twix. During the stop, passengers informed the conductor about an animal walking around the carriage; the conductor did not find its owner and, in accordance with official instructions, dropped him off the train. The cat was subsequently found dead a kilometer from this place. After the incident, the Russian Railways holding company prohibited conductors from disembarking animals from long-distance trains onto the street, having prescribed a detailed algorithm of actions in such cases.
