MOSCOW, February 21 The UK added six employees of correctional colony No. 3 in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where Alexei Navalny died, to the sanctions list, it follows from the document, published by the British government.
It indicates the head of the IC, Colonel Kalinin Vadim Konstantinovich, and five persons presented as deputy heads of the IC: Sergei Korzhov, Vasily Vydrin, Vladimir Pilipchik, Alexander Golyakov and Alexander Obraztsov. They are accused of «ill-treatment that likely contributed to the death of Alexei Navalny, including failure to ensure the provision of adequate medical care and/or failure to ensure timely access of emergency services to provide assistance.»
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov previously said that Moscow considers the statements of Western politicians about Navalny’s death to be rabid and unacceptable; there is still no final information and statements from doctors and forensic experts. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, believes that the immediate reaction of the leaders of NATO countries with the conclusions about Navalny’s death in the colony, which was announced before the conclusions of forensic experts, is self-exposing. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that reactions from abroad to Navalny’s death were “prepared in advance” — literally 15 minutes after the Federal Penitentiary Service’s message, “a stormy stream of carbon-copy accusations began to pour in.”
According to the Yamal department of the Federal Penitentiary Service, on February 16, after a walk, Navalny felt unwell, lost consciousness and died. According to preliminary data from an RT source, the convict suffered a blood clot, and the exact cause of death is being established. The SUSK for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug organized a procedural investigation into this fact; all the circumstances of Navalny’s death will be established.
As they said in the Labytnang city hospital, the ambulance tried in vain for more than half an hour to resuscitate Navalny, and the path from the station to the patient took the brigade about nine minutes. A pre-investigation investigation has been launched into the incident.
Navalny ended up in prison after his suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case was replaced in 2021 with real imprisonment due to violations of the suspended sentence regime. After several trials under other criminal articles, including the creation of an extremist community, fraud and contempt of court (insulting the judge who tried him for slandering a war veteran), the final prison term increased to 19 years, and the prison regime — to special.
