The Chinese company IM Motors, affiliated with SAIC, is preparing to launch its electric vehicles on the European market. IM's next new model, the L6 sedan, will make its world premiere next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
A large influx of Chinese electric cars is expected in Geneva this year, including premium IM Motors models — MG's British press office announced today that the new brand will enter the European market in 2025.
The MG brand, as you know, has been owned by the Chinese state automaker SAIC since 2005; in 2020, it launched the IM Motors company in partnership with the IT giant Alibaba Group and the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech technology park in Shanghai. The letters IM stand for Intelligence in Motion, which can be translated into Russian as “intelligence in motion,” but there is also a purely Chinese Latinized version of the name — Zhiji Motors. In the internal corporate hierarchy of SAIC, the IM brand occupies the highest position; the most expensive and high-tech electric vehicles are produced under it.
IM's debut model in 2022 was the flagship L7 sedan; last year, the large LS7 crossover and the slightly more compact, but still quite large LS6 crossover entered the market. The fourth model will be the large L6 sedan (in the title photo), its premiere will take place at the Geneva Motor Show, which will open its doors to the press on February 26.

At the beginning of the month, IM L6 surfaced in the electronic database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, where the main technical characteristics of the new product are indicated: overall length — 4931 mm, width — 1960 mm, height — 1474 mm, and wheelbase — 2950 mm . The basic single-engine version has a power of 250 kW (340 hp), the all-wheel drive dual-engine version has 579 kW (787 hp). The battery capacity is 90 or 100 kWh, the range on one charge is from 700 to 770 km on the CLTC cycle, depending on the modification.
In the coming days, a presentation of the updated flagship L7 sedan is also expected with a slightly retouched design, a more comfortable interior and more modern electronics.
The IM brand is not officially represented in Russia, but its models are regularly brought to our country by gray dealers.
