So far, the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property has published documents for the future new product only in the station wagon body.
In the current Lada lineup, Granta remains the most affordable and most in demand on the Russian market. Let us remind you that at the end of last year, the model sold 195,910 copies, which is 2.2 times more than in 2022 (according to Autostat calculations). Subsequently, this family, which includes sedans, liftbacks and station wagons, will be replaced by a new one, which is planned to be called Iskra.

The new family, which will join the Russian brand’s lineup, became known last summer. It is worth recalling that the replacement of Grant with Iskra will not happen immediately: according to the plan, current state employees should last on the assembly line until 2027 (it is assumed that by this time the model will “outlive its useful life”), and after that the Lada Iskra will become the entry-level family. Serial production will be established at the facilities of the Tolyatti plant.
The appearance of the model is no longer a secret: documents with patent images of the future Iskra station wagon were published in the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS). It is known that the new family will also include a sedan and a cross-version of the station wagon.
Judging by the images, the Lada Iskra will receive stampings on the hood and sides; on the front there will be a large “X”, into which the head optics will be inserted, visually combined with a radiator grille with a mesh pattern with chrome horizontal strokes. The station wagon also has roof rails, a shark fin antenna, traditional door handles and exterior mirrors with turn signal repeaters. A spoiler is installed on the top of the tailgate, and the lights have a complex shape.
During a January presentation dedicated to AVTOVAZ’s plans for the next few years, company president Maxim Sokolov confirmed that mass production and sales of cars of the new family will start in early 2025. It is known that the company has now already produced the first batch of Lada Iskra prototypes, which were sent for tests, Maxim Sokolov spoke about this the day before on the Tolyatti 24 TV channel.
The company suggests that the Lada Iskra will become “the most widespread, most affordable Russian passenger car on a high-tech platform.” Let us remember that back in the year before last, AVTOVAZ announced plans to develop a separate Lada family in segment B “on a global platform”; we are talking about the CMF-B “trolley” developed by Renault, which was planned to be modified. Previously, the French company was the owner of AVTOVAZ, but it left the Russian Federation in the spring of 2022.
Meanwhile, the Russian manufacturer does not forget about the existing models: preparations continue for the serial production of Lada Largus at the Izhevsk plant. A pilot batch is currently being assembled, which includes both commercial vans and passenger station wagons.
