“A bloody message to terrorists”: an expert explained why the militant’s ear was cut off

The “inhumane” video was leaked on purpose

The footage of the tip of the ear of one of the terrorists detained in the Bryansk forest being cut off caused an unprecedented resonance. Some even managed to come out with condemnation — they say that our special services treated the militant inhumanely, through whose fault more than 130 people died in Crocus City Hall. Meanwhile, the security forces themselves said that this method is often used not only for intimidation.

Footage of the tip of one of the terrorists' ear being cut off during detention appeared online on March 23. The video, not for the faint of heart, evoked an unprecedented response. There were also those who condemned the allegedly inhumane methods of our special forces. However, as it turns out, this technique is quite common.

“The good old method in action. I recognize the handwriting. Who is in the material – we are working brothers,” wrote one of the former specialists in his channel.

According to an MK expert familiar with the situation, the technique, which may seem cruel, is quite effective:

— This is an interrogation technique that is forced to be used in order to quickly obtain the necessary information and “talk” to the same Islamic fanatics. But doing this quickly is not so easy. At the same time, very often the speed of obtaining operational information determines how quickly other persons involved in the crime will be identified and detained. And they, in turn, can pose a danger to the civilian population. In such situations, believe me, there is no time for the civil rights of terrorists, much less sentimentality,” the expert said.

There is, by the way, another explanation for such work with terrorists professing radical Islam. For such people, the loss of ears is a shame and humiliation. Fanatics are terribly afraid of such cutting off ears, because they believe that without ears they will not become martyrs. Many of them take the phrase from the Koran too literally, “Allah pulls the ears to heaven” and believe that without ears they will not go to heaven.

It is possible that the footage of the ear being cut off did not easily end up in open sources. – most likely this became a kind of message to other potential militants who would risk repeating the monstrous crime.
