The new OPPO Reno11 smartphone is aiming to become a leader in the “middle class” — competition in it is intensifying, manufacturers are actively adding flagship features and winning in terms of camera quality. Let's find out how the new product on the Russian market turned out in the review.
Camera
OPPO Reno11 has a rather interesting camera unit, with great potential for creating high-quality photos and videos. It includes three flagship (for mid-range smartphones) Sony sensors: a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical stabilization, phase detection autofocus and high-aperture f/1.8 optics; 8 megapixel “wide” with a lens viewing angle of 112 degrees; and the “main dish” — a telephoto sensor with a resolution of 32 megapixels, autofocus, providing 2x optical zoom. Front camera 32 MP.
Daytime shots taken with the main camera surprise with accurate color reproduction and white balance. High sharpness in the frame allows you to see even small details. If this is not enough for you, then you can shoot in 60 megapixel mode (versus the standard 12.5 megapixel). It adds even more sharpness and detail to the frame.
A sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens can be useful in scenarios when you need to fit as much space into the frame as possible — the automation here copes well with distortion at the edges of the image.
The real surprise of the 2x telephoto zoom is the Sony IMX709 sensor — a rare mid-range option that is usually found in expensive flagships. Pictures taken with this camera in good lighting are clear and have a color scheme that is as close as possible to the main sensor. If 2X zoom is not enough for you, then the camera has a hybrid 5x zoom, the pictures from which are similar to native zoom.
RGBW matrix provides increased light sensitivity by 60% and reduced noise by 35% compared to similar traditional options, which is felt when shooting at dusk and at night. Night mode in OPPO Reno11 allows you to take high-quality pictures even where there is very little light.
OPPO paid special attention to portrait mode, for which there is a separate item in the camera menu. It uses Portrait Expert Engine technology to improve the portrait photography capabilities of the smartphone. Thus, Reno11 can recognize faces in the frame, objects or shooting scenarios. In addition, the Portrait Expert Engine is optimized to process faces more naturally — OPPO recruited portrait photographers to customize it. As a result, no facial artificiality. The smartphone does a good job of accurately rendering colors regardless of a person’s skin tone. For lovers of “beautifiers” there are many options in store, such as evening out the same skin tone.
Portraits can be taken both with the main camera and with a telephoto camera, the EGF of which is 47 mm, i.e. almost the same “fifty dollars” so beloved by portrait photographers. It is this focal length that provides the equivalent of the gaze of the human eye.
OPPO Reno11 blurs the background surprisingly accurately in portrait mode, almost unmistakably highlighting the central subject in the frame. The contours are smooth and clear, the blur is beautiful. Moreover, you can choose the depth of field by setting the virtual aperture from f/1.4 to f/16.
And even against the background of a professional mirrorless camera, daytime shots from the OPPO Reno11 look extremely interesting. The smartphone copes well with shooting in automatic mode, accurately setting contrast and white balance — cameras cannot do that. Moreover, the special portrait mode on the Reno11 produces bokeh that is in no way inferior to what the camera can provide.
The smartphone can take pictures video in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second on both the main and front cameras. There is also a maximum stabilization mode, when the picture is as free from shaking as possible, but in it you will have to sacrifice resolution.
Fashionable artificial intelligence has not been forgotten either: the AI Smart Image Matting tool (AI removal of background from photos) can cut out several people and animals from static images at once in order, for example, to turn photos into stickers.
Design
From the outside, it’s difficult to recognize the OPPO Reno11 as a “mid-ranger” — the design of the smartphone is quite flagship, with a fashionable screen with “sleek” side edges. We are holding a smartphone in green color,” in which the back panel resembles sea wave foam. By the way, although it is made of polymer, it feels like glass. But not everyone will like the gloss, because it adds slipperiness to the case. Complete the cover solves this problem.
Compared to its predecessor, the design of the chamber unit has also changed — in the era of huge platforms, an elegant oval that practically does not protrude above the panel looks neat and moderate.
The use of a screen with rounded side edges made it possible to obtain display frames of minimal thickness. And Reno11 itself weighs a little — only 182 g.
Display
The smartphone has a flagship-level screen — a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a color coverage of 1B and a peak brightness of 950 nit. The matrix is covered with heavy-duty Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2.
The color rendition of the screen is correct and pleasant, and if desired, it can be finely adjusted to suit you. OPPO Reno11 does not go blind in direct sunlight, the information on it remains readable.
The smartphone can update the image with a frequency of 120 Hz; three frequency modes are available to the user: 60, 120 Hz and automatic. In the latter, the smartphone itself decides, depending on the software and the usage scenario, at what frequency to update the picture.
Thanks to the use of high-frequency PWM (2160 Hz), the OPPO screen is practically free of the unpleasant ripple effect, which means it is completely safe for the user’s eyes.< br />
Performance and ColorOS 14
OPPO Reno11 was equipped with a Mediatek Dimensity 7050 processor — this is an eight-core platform made using a 6-nm process technology, operating at a maximum frequency of 2.6 GHz and equipped with a Mali-G68 MC4 video accelerator.
The mid-range chip provides decent smartphone performance — the model scored more than 500 thousand points in the AnTuTu benchmark. The use of Dimensity 7050 avoided overheating and throttling of the filling, OPPO Reno11 works quickly and stably even under high load.
The device runs ColorOS 14 shell based on Android 14. ColorOS is full of all sorts of options that make the user's life easier, making the user experience smartphone as comfortable as possible. For example, the software can automatically compress unused data and delete duplicate files, saving built-in memory. Or, remember the owner’s habits, saving battery power.
The shell uses Trinity Engine technology to achieve a balance of performance and autonomy. It is a sophisticated software platform designed to maximize the potential of your smartphone. This engine includes CPU, RAM and storage optimizations.
Sound, safety and autonomy
The built-in stereo system of two speakers provides high-quality and clear sound with OPPO Reno11. The Oreality Audio function is designed to optimize audio, selecting it for specific use cases. And for lovers of high volume, there is an Ultra Volume Mode, which allows you to increase the sound volume by 300%.
The in-display fingerprint scanner works impeccably quickly and accurately — the only complaint we can make is its relatively low location. Of course, you can unlock Reno11 using facial recognition.
The elegant and thin body houses a solid 5000 mAh battery. Together with manufacturer optimization, an energy-efficient platform and an OLED screen, it provides good battery life — the smartphone is able to last a whole day with a reserve even under the most intense load. Charging doesn't take long, as the included 67W SUPERVOOC power supply can replenish 33% of the battery's capacity in 10 minutes, and a full charge takes only 45 minutes.
With Battery Health Engine technology, OPPO has optimized the battery system so that could work effectively even after four years of continuous use.
Total
OPPO has a smartphone with a rather interesting balance of characteristics compared to its classmates: a flagship-level screen, a powerful platform and an advanced camera module, because professional-level portrait photography with optical zoom is rare in the classroom. With this combination of characteristics, Reno11 will definitely be of interest to buyers in the segment below 50,000 rubles.
The new product is already available for purchase in M.Video stores. There is a promotional price for first time buyers. The cost of OPPO Reno11 with 2x optical zoom is 39,999 rubles instead of 44,999 rubles. The promotion period is until May 8, 2024 (inclusive).
