ROSTOV-ON-DON, May 2. The Volgodonsk district court in the Rostov region decided to take into custody two men suspected of the brutal murder of two local residents, they reported United press service of the regional courts.
«By the decision of the Volgodonsk District Court of the Rostov Region… suspect Kachan Sergei… was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention… until June 23, 2024 inclusive… Suspect Rudayev… was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention… until June 22, 2024 inclusive,» — the message says. 
As the press service of the GUMVD of the Russian Federation for the Rostov region clarified, the police received a report of the disappearance of two local residents aged 47 and 54 years, who on April 22, 2024 left the territory of an industrial base located in the city of Volgodonsk, after which they stopped communicating , and their location could not be established.
Law enforcement officers found out during investigative and operational activities that the missing people had become victims of a crime. Two 53-year-old residents of the Potapov farm in the Volgodonsk region were detained on suspicion of their murder. According to preliminary data, the men arranged a meeting with the victims in the Volgodonsk region, where they killed them with knives and an ax. To hide traces of the crime, they dismembered and burned the bodies of the victims.
As law enforcement officers found out, the conflict and subsequent murder occurred because of a debt: the defendants were engaged in the production and sale of charcoal, and the murdered were its buyers. Currently, the Russian Investigative Committee for the Rostov Region has opened a criminal case against the defendants on the grounds of a crime provided for in paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Murder of two or more persons.” It was also established that the suspects were previously convicted of murder and other crimes.
