The “traditional” SUV received an interior from its electric brother, and the equipment was also revised. The technology is the same.
The Torres crossover with a brutal appearance debuted in 2022 – still under the SsangYong brand. The Korean automaker has since changed hands and was renamed KG Mobility (KGM). The SUV was initially in good demand in its homeland, but then sales plummeted: according to the KGM company itself, in January-April 2024, only 5,516 units were sold on the domestic market — this is as much as 73% less compared to the same period in 2023 . Against this background, Torres was updated. By the way, this is already the second modernization — the first was carried out last year.

The appearance was not changed. But the interior is new, and it is the same as the electric version of the KGM Torres EVX, launched in the fall of 2023. Let us note that the electric car is considered an independent model; in Korea it has its own sales statistics (the result of the first quarter of 2024 is 2,637 units). By the way, in some European countries a gasoline crossover with a new interior appeared a couple of months ago, but in Korea such an SUV was launched only now.

If we compare it with the interior of the pre-reform “traditional” SUV, the front panel is different; instead of separate instrument and multimedia screens, a scoreboard was installed (each display is 12.3 inches diagonal). The regular KGM Torres also lost the touch-sensitive climate control unit — the settings are integrated into the central touchscreen. A “floating” console with a tiny transmission selector and a pair of cup holders appeared between the front seats. USB Type-C connectors have also been added (front and rear), and the driver monitoring system has been improved.

KGM Torres also received a new “off-road” package (the crossover equipped with it is captured in the title photo). However, it does not provide for obvious external metamorphoses. This kit includes off-road tires, red brake calipers and stiffer suspension springs. As before, buyers can still choose the Black Edition with extended black trim and the Torres Van. The cargo version does not have a second row of seats, and a partition is installed behind the front seats, plus there are metal crossbars on the rear door windows.
All equipment is the same. In Korea, the KGM Torres is offered with a 1.5 petrol turbo-four with a power of 170 hp, the engine is paired with a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. A bi-fuel crossover is also available on the domestic market: the same 1.5T engine is tuned to 165 hp.
The price of the updated passenger crossover starts at 28,380,000 won, which is equivalent to approximately 1,901,000 rubles at the current exchange rate.
Meanwhile, later the KGM Torres will have another modification: an SUV is being prepared for its debut, which the Korean media has dubbed the Torres Coupe.
