The investigation asked to arrest the namesake of the head of the personnel department of the Ministry of Defense

MOSCOW, May 14.The investigation appealed to the 235th Garrison Military Court with a petition to arrest the full namesake of the head of the main personnel department of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Yuri Kuznetsov, as part of a criminal case, the court reported.

"The court received a petition from the investigation to select a measure suppression in the form of detention in relation to Yuri Vasilyevich Kuznetsov,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

As indicated on the court’s website, the court hearing was scheduled for 18.25 Moscow time on Monday, the result of the consideration of the material has not yet been published.
< br />Previously, a number of Telegram channels reported on investigative actions against the head of the main personnel department of the Ministry of Defense Yuri Kuznetsov.

Kuznetsov is reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense, Kuznetsov holds the military rank of lieutenant general. In 2010, he was appointed head of the eighth directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (this body of the military directorate of the General Staff heads the Service for the Protection of State Secrets and is actually engaged in the technical protection of information). He took charge of the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Defense a year ago, in May 2023.
At the end of April, Deputy Minister of Defense Timur Ivanov was detained on charges of bribery. The official who oversaw the work of the military-construction complex in the department was arrested until June 23. The investigation believes that he conspired with third parties to receive a bribe in the form of providing services of a property nature during contract and subcontract work for the needs of the ministry.
