The model of the German brand, owned by the auto giant Stellantis, will be offered in the European market with hybrid and all-electric powertrains.
The Opel line already included a model called Frontera, it was a frame SUV (produced from 1989 to 2004), which was a twin of the “Japanese” Isuzu Mu, which in the USA was sold as Isuzu Amigo and Rodeo Sport in different generations). Now the name has been revived to assign to a new compact SUV, which is based on a version of the CMP platform (at Stellantis it was also designated as the Smart Car Platform).

As we noted earlier, the new product has replaced the Opel Crossland. Its closest relatives are the current European versions of the Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross. The name and first teasers of the Opel Frontera appeared at the end of January of this year, the manufacturer showed the exterior and interior at the beginning of last month, and now the company has declassified the new crossover, the presentation took place in Istanbul.
Let us remind you that the exterior of the Frontera is designed in accordance with the Vizor corporate style: the front part is distinguished by LED headlights with horizontal stripes of running lights, connected to each other by a black panel, in the center of which is the updated brand logo. A large air intake with a honeycomb pattern is integrated into the lower part of the front bumper.
The model received traditional exterior mirrors and “regular” door handles. The black roof has roof rails of the same color. The rear lights are “two-story”, with the top one extending onto the tailgate, the top of which is crowned by a rather voluminous spoiler. The SUV has a plastic body kit around the perimeter of the body, including linings on the wheel arches.
The manufacturer still has not released the dimensions of the Opel Frontera. So far, only the trunk volume of the five-seater version is known: the company noted that the compartment holds “more than 450 liters,” while with the backrests of the second row folded, the volume of the cargo compartment grows to 1,600 liters. It is known that a seven-seat version of the crossover will appear later.
In the interior of the new SUV you can see two closely spaced 10-inch displays, one of which acts as a virtual instrument panel, the second as a touchscreen for the infotainment system. The model also received a steering wheel with a truncated rim, and the center console has physical buttons that allow you to control a number of vehicle functions.

The Opel Frontera in the European market will be offered with hybrid and all-electric powertrains. The basic version is powered by a 100-horsepower 1.2-liter gasoline engine, which works in tandem with a 28-horsepower electric motor and a six-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox. There is also a similar option with a turbo engine of the same volume, its output is 136 hp.
There are practically no details about the technology of completely “green” versions of Frontera. The company only said that the initial version has a rated range on a single charge of more than 300 km (when calculated using the WLTP cycle), and for the long-range version the figure is approximately 400 km.
The company has already announced the estimated starting prices for Opel Frontera — purchasing a basic hybrid in Europe will cost about 24 thousand euros (equivalent to about 2.38 million rubles at the current exchange rate), and the cost of an initial all-electric SUV will be at least 29 thousand euros (about 2.88 million rubles).
