The third season of the Crossroads festival will be held in an updated format

MOSCOW, May 13. For the first time, performances with subtitles will be shown as part of the III International Festival of Puppet Theaters «Perekrestok» in Novosibirsk, the festival organizers reported.
The «Crossroads» Festival is an event for the exchange of experience and communication between professional acting ensembles and master puppeteers and theater enthusiasts.
New this year will be targeting people with hearing loss. Competition performances will be shown with subtitles, and lectures and master classes will be translated into sign language. Outside the competition, inclusive performances with deaf actors will be held to attract more viewers. Also, famous theater figures will give consultations to inclusive studios and theaters, as well as conduct lectures and trainings for deaf artists.

In just six days of the festival from June 7 to June 12, 2024, 29 screenings will be held at various venues for 4.5 thousand spectators. The program includes master classes, competitions, audience screenings of performances, exhibitions and creative meetings. Guests of the event will see the work of professional creative teams with various puppet systems: puppets, shadow, tablet, glove, cane.

Of the 18 creative teams of the festival, two groups of inclusive theaters will participate, as well as 11 Russian theaters and five foreign ones collectives. Artists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will show their performances. For the first time, productions from China and Iran will be presented in Novosibirsk.

“Our festival is, first of all, a meeting of friends, like-minded people, people who have dedicated their lives to the development of puppet theater. We are glad that we have the opportunity to show the Novosibirsk audience the best performances of puppet theaters that appear on the Russian stage, to introduce them to world theatrical traditions. For the first time we will welcome guests from Iran and China. For the first time at our festival there will be an international jury,” said director of the Novosibirsk Regional Puppet Theater Yuri Gorlatykh, whose words are quoted in the message.

Based on the results of the competition program, the international jury of the competition, consisting of which theater critics, playwrights, screenwriters, producers and theater theorists will distribute awards. Among the guests of honor are experts from South Korea, Iran, and India.
The festival was organized by the Novosibirsk Regional Puppet Theater with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the ANO «New Theater Projects» and the Ministry of Culture of the Novosibirsk Region.
