This week, representatives of the American company confirmed the likelihood of a four-door version appearing in the Mustang range, which gave us a reason to imagine what it would look like such a car.
The history of the iconic Mustang model began in 1964, when the first generation two-door car, based on the Ford Falcon family sedan, rolled off the production line. Since then, the Mustang has been produced exclusively with two doors, not counting the four-door prototypes created on the basis of the same first generation. At the same time, rumors about expanding the range of the sports model have circulated repeatedly in recent years, and a couple of days ago, Ford Chief Executive Officer Jim Farley confirmed that a four-door version could be on the production line.

Earlier, an official sketch of a four-door Mustang was also published showing a profile view of the car. However, this is just a drawing with one of the possible design options; we took the current seventh generation Mustang, which premiered in September 2022, as a basis. The car depicted in the renderings, in addition to an additional pair of doors, also received an increased wheelbase, since the distance between the axles of the coupe is clearly too small for a full-fledged four- or five-seater saloon. In addition, the roof level above the second row of seats has been increased due to the “retracted” rear window.

A Ford company representative also stated that such a sedan can be equipped with a V8 gasoline engine and even a manual transmission (the current coupe has this version). At the same time, he promised that there would never be an all-electric Mustang. By the way, one of the potential competitors of the future new product has a similar version — the new generation Dodge Charger model, which premiered in March of this year.
