MOSCOW, May 18. People's Artist of Russia, rector of the Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts Sergei Andriyaka was buried at the Danilovskoye Cemetery in Moscow, the correspondent reports.
Andriyaka passed away on May 16 at the age of 65. The farewell ceremony for the artist took place at his academy on Friday.

The artist's funeral service took place in the Church of the Transfiguration on Bolvanovka in Moscow. After this, a memorial service was held at the capital’s Danilovskoye Cemetery, followed by burial. More than a hundred people, relatives, colleagues, students and friends came to see off the artist on his last journey, among them were People's Artist, actor Sergei Garmash, People's Artists Sergei Gavrilyachenko and Vyacheslav Zhelvakov and others.
Mourning wreaths were sent by the board and staff of PJSC Severstal and the Grekov Studio of Military Artists.
After the death of the artist, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to his family and friends. Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova noted that Andriyaka subtly and sensitively conveyed the beauty of Russia, put love and devotion to his homeland into his works, his work resonated in the hearts of everyone. She called the master's death a terrible loss for all Russian art.
The Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts called Andriyaka the greatest master of the brush, noting that his works have won recognition and love all over the world. Secretary of the Union of Artists of Russia, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Sergei Gavrilyachenko called Andriyaka's death a disaster for national culture.
People's Artist of the Russian Federation, founder and artistic director of the School of Watercolor, rector of the Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts Sergei Andriyaka was born on July 14, 1958 in Moscow. Andriyaka’s paintings decorate the first building of the Kremlin, where the head of state works. The walls also display works by his students. In total — more than 200 paintings.
