MOSCOW, May 20. The 24th international specialized exhibition “Equipment, Instruments and Tools for the Metalworking Industry” opened at the Expocentre central exhibition complex; 1.5 thousand companies from seven countries are participating in it, the correspondent reports.
The exhibition's exposition occupied all eight pavilions of the Expocentre.
«Today the machine tool industry, without exaggeration, is playing a strategic role in strengthening the technological sovereignty of our country. Over the past two years, the industry has more than doubled its production and now produces products in the amount of over 100 billion rubles,” noted Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Mikhail Ivanov at the opening of the exhibition.
Industry development, according to the Deputy Minister, is also facilitated by assistance from the state.
Among our traditional support measures, subsidies for research and development work are in demand among manufacturers. Over the past year, our enterprises received more than 950 million rubles in appropriate support. In addition, last year we supported Russian manufacturers through a compensation mechanism for the provided discount for a total amount of 1.4 billion rubles,” said Ivanov.
“Developed machine tool industry is one of the key conditions for Russia to gain technological sovereignty in accordance with the President’s guidelines RF. It is necessary to ensure maximum domestic content of all machine tool and metalworking products,” noted Konstantin Dolgov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy of the Federation Council.
The senator noted that since the last exhibition in 2023, the industry grew by 60%, and this positive trend is a consequence of government support measures. But there are also problems that need to be solved. The main thing is personnel.
“By 2030, the need for industrial personnel will increase by 66%. The shortage of personnel is a serious challenge. In this regard, it is necessary to increase labor productivity. We cannot do without the accelerated introduction of industrial robots. And the president has set the task of ensuring our country’s place in the top 25 countries in terms of the number of industrial robots by 2030. Robotics is one of the key, impact areas in the industrial sector,” Dolgov emphasized.
As Alexander Spiridonov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade, said at the opening of the exhibition, at the moment one of the most important tasks of industry is to reduce labor intensity — automation, digitalization, robotization, and the introduction of new and additive technologies.
«This is a very complex system that begins not even with production, but with science. It is important that there are serious programs to support fundamental and research science from the state,» Spiridonov emphasized.
Speaking with journalists, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Sergei Katyrin, noted the effectiveness of state support measures for the industry.
«The most important thing is that the industry is developing. Now this area is receiving great attention from the government, from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This applies not only to manufacturers, but also to measures to support science,» Katyrin emphasized.
According to the general Director of Expocentre JSC Maxim Fateev, the volume of the exhibition compared to 2023 increased in area by 30%, and in the number of participants — by 25%.
“Two trends in modern metalworking are widely represented at the exhibition: intelligent machines using AI elements and laser technologies that make products more accurate,” Fateev told reporters.
