The live premiere of the new Japanese brand will be held at the end of this week as part of the Wicked Big Meet event for fans of the brand’s cars in the USA: the meeting will be held in Stafford (Connecticut).
The States remain one of the priority markets for Subaru, so it is not surprising that the current generation WRX sedan was the first to go to the Americans. The model was presented in September 2021; during the last generation change, the sports sedan moved to the modular SGP platform (Subaru Global Platform). Last fall, a “warmed-up” version of the WRX TR was presented, and now it’s time for the debut of the Subaru WRX tS.

Note that the current WRX does not have a full-fledged “hot” STI version, but a new modification with the addition of tS was prepared by the sports division of Subaru Tecnica International. It is known that such a new product will appear on the American market early next year.
The special version has several visual differences from the base sedan. Thus, the Subaru WRX tS received a number of black decorative elements, including a spoiler at the rear, exterior mirror housings and a shark fin antenna. The model name written in large red letters appears on the black radiator grille, and on the trunk lid there is a nameplate with the name of the version. This sedan also has 19-inch matte gray wheels shod with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires.
The interior of the Subaru WRX tS sports sedan also received a number of changes, the main one being a 12.3-inch diagonal virtual instrument panel. An 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard, as is the Eyesight ADAS package. The engine start button is decorated with the abbreviation STI.

The first row consists of Recaro Performance seats with developed lateral support. Blue decorative elements have appeared in the interior; WRS tS emblems can be seen on the headrests and floor mats. The Subaru WRX tS, like last year's version with the addition of TR, does not have a sunroof. This made it possible to increase the height of the model’s body, as well as lower its center of gravity.
For the WRX version tS developers have modernized the chassis. From the top version of the WRX GT, the new product received adaptive shock absorbers with three operating modes – Comfort, Normal and Sport. And from the special version of the WRX TR — reinforced Brembo brakes (six-piston mechanisms at the front, two-piston at the rear). The diameter of the discs and the size of the pads were also increased, and the calipers were painted in the company’s gold color.
The technology remained the same as that of the base sedan: let us remind you that it shared it with other models of the brand — Legacy, Outback and Ascent. This means that under the hood of the all-wheel drive Subaru WRX tS sedan there is a 275-horsepower 2.4-liter FA24 boxer turbo engine (maximum torque – 350 Nm). It is paired only with a six-speed manual transmission, while the “regular” four-door also has a CVT.
