MOSCOW, July 1 The Nika Award in the nomination of best documentary film was received by the film «Balabanov. The Bell Tower. Requiem» by Lyubov Arkus, announced the host of the ceremony, actor Sergei Novosad.
“Thank you very much to all of you, colleagues, for appreciating the film and, in fact, remembering Lyosha Balabanov, who really probably deserves to be remembered by us for a long, long time,” said producer Sergei Selyanov, accepting the award .
In the nomination “Best Non-Fiction Film,” the selection was made from more than a hundred candidates, among whom preference was also given to the films “Andrei Tarkovsky. The Never Return of the Wind” by Anastasia Krapivina, “Exit” by Maxim and Evgenia Arbugaev, as well as “The Film Language of the Epoch: Marlen Khutsiev” by Andrei Istratova.
Irina Evteeva’s “The Nutcracker, Piano and Dandelion Wine” was recognized as the best animated film. The nomination also included “White, White Day” by Vasily Chirkov, “I Want to Sleep” by Igor Voloshin and “Harms” by Svetlana Andrianova.
National Cinematography Award «Nika» was established in 1987 by the secretariat of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR. The winners are determined by secret ballot of members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and receive a prize-figurine of the winged ancient Greek goddess Nike.
