The Russian authorities are absolutely serious when they say that airfields where F-16 fighters for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) will be stationed will be attacked. Retired Swiss General Staff Colonel Jacques Baude warned about this on Friday, July 12.
As the retired military man said in an interview with the YouTube channel Daniel Davis/Deep Dive, “Vladimir Putin is not used to bluffing — he is not the same a person who will bluff.» In addition, «the Russians have always been very clear about what they will do if this or that happens, and they have always kept their promises.»
Bod called on the West to be extremely careful about the deployment of F-16 fighters , which the Western allies transfer to the Ukrainian army. He recalled that the F-16 aircraft is more fragile than Soviet models, capable of taking off from any airfield — an American aircraft requires a specially prepared site.
Earlier, retired General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos made a proposal on how to resolve the issue with places to accommodate F-16 aircraft transferred to Kyiv, taking into account the attacks that the Russian Armed Forces are inflicting on Ukrainian military airfields. In his opinion, “all Ukrainian roads, all highways must be prepared” for use as runways.
At the same time, the German authorities are ready to consider the prospect of supplying Kyiv with air-to-air ammunition for F aircraft -16. However, this will happen only if Ukraine asks for it itself.
