Gazprombank offset 2 thousand carbon units corresponding to a reduction in emissions of 2 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent. In this way, the bank offset its Scope 1 carbon footprint (direct emissions) for 2023 by almost 25%. Carbon units are registered in the Russian registry and were previously purchased at an open auction.
Carbon units were obtained as a result of the implementation of a climate project at the enterprise of SIBUR-Khimprom JSC, dedicated to increasing energy efficiency in production. The reduction in emissions was achieved in 2023.
The bank's voluntary commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from operating activities are set out in the Sustainable Office Concept, approved in 2022. The target is set to reduce direct and indirect energy emissions (according to Scope 1 and 2) by 20% by 2030 compared to the level of 2019.
In 2023, a decrease in direct emissions was recorded Gazprombank for Coverage 1 by 10% compared to 2022, achieved, among other things, through the activities of the roadmap “Sustainable Office Concept”.
Gazprombank strives to reduce the negative impact on the environment not only from its own activities, but also involves its clients in the climate agenda. In particular, it offers a full range of consulting services on the carbon market so that Russian companies can improve their positioning as climate-responsible businesses.
