Alina Zagitova is preparing to charm viewers with the premiere of an ice show. Sports recognizes the signs of the Olympic champion, which will help to understand what will happen at the end of August in Kazan.
Marvel or Scorsese?
Zagitova is training hard with a titled dancer, trying on chic costumes of her own design and intriguing with a teaser — she is an angel, an eastern queen, a girl from the future.
The title «Keepers of Time» does not directly refer to popular topics in figure skating. Not «Carmen», «Nutcracker» and not «Swan Lake» — here the associations would immediately become a wall. And this is a very bold step — experienced producer Ilya Averbukh is sure that the so-called “golden fund” of works that everyone is tired of is the best way to collect the box office. The public greets something new with caution, and may not vote with rubles for tickets.
Probably, the team that helps Zagitova organize the show is betting on her personal brand. No matter the blue tractor, even the little train from Romashkovo, even the story about the fawn Bambi — they will still go for Alina, so you can play with innovation.
< br>But we will still try to draw parallels with other works in order to find a foothold for our expectations from the show. There are time keepers, for example, in the Marvel universe — they are a trio of androids (robots) designed to monitor time lines in all worlds. Impassive, fair and invulnerable.
In the film «Guardians of Time», four sisters find themselves in another world through a secret portal in an old mansion. They meet evil, fight it and, of course, win — this attitude suits Alina perfectly.
Well, of course, there is the classic from Martin Scorsese — his film «Guardian of Time» can be called a short lesson in the history of cinema.
If you put it all together and think it over a bit, the following idea emerges: a gynoid (robot-like woman) with a beautiful face and the plasticity of a wild cat lives between three dimensions — past, present and future. She must be preserving traditions, cherishing dreams and not allowing anyone in the present to harm the past and future.
This connection of times can be read, for example, through the costumes for the show. Alina emphasized that she herself took part in the development of the design, the choice of fabrics and the styling of the final images.
The past, future and present are one, so almost all outfits have the same print. It is applied to the body mesh so that it looks like ritual drawings on the body. You can change your costume, you can escape from the past into the future, but you cannot escape from yourself.
What does it all mean?
The most intriguing image so far is a long white tunic with a cape covering the head. It seems to refer to the moment of the creation of the world. Zagitova appears as either the angelic Mary Magdalene or Mother Amina from Islam. This is, of course, a simplification of iconic female religious images, but the simultaneous femininity, innocence and purity are striking. The white tunic is the only outfit without an ornament.
A red dress with long sleeves and a wide belt, complemented by a headdress, resembles Tatar folk costumes. Again, not directly, but subtly, with a delicate nod to Alina's roots.
The green shiny jumpsuit with high shoulder pads and short shorts is a fantasy of what strong women might look like in the future. There is something alien and futuristic about it. The neon glasses and the long fake ponytail are also included.
It is not yet clear what expressive means Alina will have at her disposal for the show. Olympic champion Dmitry Solovyov has been announced as her partner, but there is no certainty about supporting roles and extras. There is also no understanding of the plot, its depth and intensity. Only that this is «a story that everyone should see,» as stated in the last words of the teaser.
But since we still want to get to the bottom of the truth, we will use another method. Alina posted a picture with encrypted symbols on her Telegram channel, clearly related to the show.
We managed to make out the following: an hourglass as a direct symbol of time, the number «1» turning into an infinity sign, the letter A, a young flower, an asterisk, and a teasing smiley. It turns out something like: «Alina is the first forever, she made her way through the asphalt like a stubborn birch, her star burns brightly, and she reacts to all the attacks of ill-wishers with a smile.» It sounds like fan fiction, but be lenient: it is difficult to reliably decipher the message yet. Let's just wait for the next signs. Alina has been intriguing us all masterfully lately.
