Gina Carano, a lead actress in The Mandalorian, has been dropped from the television series over social media posts that drew parallels between the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany and modern attitudes towards people with different political outlooks.
"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future," a Lucas-film spokesman said in a statement. "Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
Neither Carano nor her representatives could be reached for a comment.
Carano played Cara Dune in The Mandalorian, which runs on the Disney+ streaming service, and is a live-action series set in the galaxy that was first seen on screen in Star Wars, the 1977 film.
In a post on her Instagram story on Tuesday night, the actress likened contemporary political differences to the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany, Variety, the entertainment news website, reported.

"Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours … even by children," the report said quoting a post she shared on Instagram.
"Because history is edited, most people today don’t realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews.
"How is that any different from hating someone for their political views." Variety said the post had originated on a different Instagram account.
On Twitter, #FireGinaCarano was trending. Carano has previously come under fire for tweets in November in which she derided mask-wearing amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a different tweet that month she also falsely claimed there had been voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election.
Lucasfilm had planned to unveil Carano as the star of her own Disney+ series, but dropped those plans after her tweets, The Hollywood Reporter said, citing unnamed sources.
