F. According to reports, Murray Abraham, the Oscar-winning actor who played a depraved old man in the hit series White Lotus, has been dropped from his latest series due to alleged sexual harassment.
Abraham, 83, has been dropped from Apple TV's Mythic Quest comic book series after two complaints about his behavior during filming, Rolling Stone reports.
The star was reportedly told to stay away from certain Mythic Quest actresses after the first allegation.
When another incident occurred that was brought to the attention of creator and star Rob McElhenney, Abraham was reportedly removed from the show.
“We take allegations of misconduct seriously and are investigating them thoroughly,” production studio Lionsgate said in a statement. «In line with corporate policy, we do not discuss our personnel actions.»
The Telegraph reached out to Abraham for comment.
In Mythic Quest, the actor played sci-fi author C. W. Longbottom , a solid character, before being written off without explanation in the third season.
Longbottom was killed at the premiere of the final season, which aired in November. He drove off a cliff into the Grand Canyon in a Thunderbird after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.
«It's a shame that Murray won't be in this season,» McElhenney told Variety before leaving. .
“But we acknowledge that C.W. is a beloved character and obviously an important part of the show. So, we made sure we had a really decent tribute to him. We're definitely tackling this problem in a big way,» said the star, who co-owns Wrexham Football Club with Ryan Reynolds.
White Lotus cult
Abraham was married to Kate Hannan for 60 years, with whom he had two children, until her death in November.
He gained a cult following for his role in the successful HBO original series White Lotus.
In January 2022, Abraham was cast in the second season, playing Bert Di Grasso, a clumsy elderly grandfather traveling to Sicily with his son Dominic and grandson Albi.
Bert draws the ire of his son and grandson for constantly making inappropriate comments about women, ignoring any criticism by saying that he is from the older generation.
Referring to HBO's character Burt, Mike White, director of The White Lotus, told The New York Times in December: «Bert says a lot of questionable things and has ambiguous attitudes about sex, women and relationships. I just thought it would be fun to have an actor with the same buoyancy and 'what am I worried about?' attitude.
«There's something really naughty about Murray and he could obviously play The villain. But he also has that sweet, unsinkable quality.”
The show earned Abraham a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series.
Among his many television, film and theater roles, Abraham is known for playing a covert ops specialist in the Showtime series Homeland, as well as his prominent role in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel .
He won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his role as Antonio Salieri in the 1984 film Amadeus, about the life of Mozart.
