Chery news for Russia: Exeed Exlantix sedan and Omoda Jaecoo crossovers

They promise to bring a couple of models to the Russian market this year, the exact dates for the appearance of other cars have not yet been specified.

Chery had a rich program of presentations at the Shanghai Motor Show that opened the day before. There are many premieres, and some of the new products had to be presented twice: separately for local and separately for foreign media and dealers. So, in China, the premium sub-brand Exeed has a new «green» series Sterra, and for export markets this line was called Exlantix. And some fresh models directly from the parent Chery in some places will be reincarnated as Jaecoo: somewhere it will also be an independent brand, in the Russian Federation — the “older offshoot” of Omoda. Let's start with «premium».

The length of the four-door is about 4.95 meters, the wheelbase is about 2 .9 meters. Appearance features — a coupe-like silhouette, retractable door handles and a retractable spoiler on the trunk lid. Another feature is the pixel information “boards” located under the headlights (for example, they can display the temperature outside).

Inside — a compact tidy screen, a projection display, a giant touchscreen multimedia system and a two-story central tunnel. For cars on the “trolley” E0X, rear or all-wheel drive is provided, the range exceeds 700 km, and the first “hundred” electric cars can dial in just 3 seconds. And that's all the technical details for today.

Electrocross Exeed at home is called Sterra ET, the global version is still Exlantix E0Y. The exterior and interior are designed in the style of a related sedan, there is no other information about the SUV.

Well, now about the Jaecoo models, there are currently two of them — the Jaecoo 7 and Jaecoo 9 petrol crossovers, photos of «live» cars were published by AutoCosmos. «Seven» is a slightly altered Chery TJ-1, which was also brought to Shanghai. Apparently, both crosses are unified with Chery Tiggo 7 Pro already familiar to Russians.

The length of the “five-door” Jaecoo is 4500 mm, the parent Chery model is 4538 mm (the TJ-1 has an “off-road” body kit), the wheelbase of the cars is the same — 2672 mm. Both crossovers are promised a 1.6 petrol turbo engine and all-wheel drive, at home the model will still have hybrid versions.

The Jaecoo 9 crossover is Chery Tiggo 9 with new emblems. The length of the «nine» is 4820 mm, the distance between the axles is 2820 mm. This SUV is equipped with a 2.0 turbo engine, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

As previously reported in the Russian office of the Omoda brand, which, we recall, will deal with sales of Jaecoo, in the Russian Federation, cars of the new line are going to be sold in 120 showrooms: 100 dealerships will combine Omoda and Jaecoo cars, and another 20 showrooms will turn out to be independent.

Finally, Omoda herself demonstrated a novelty at the Shanghai Motor Show — an electric version of the C5 SUV. The Russian division of the electric car calls C5 e-QUA, in other countries the model will appear under the name Omoda 5 EV. Outwardly, such a cross differed from the gasoline brother in the design of the front end: the “green” SUV has a plug instead of a radiator grille. According to preliminary data, the Omoda C5 e-QUA has a single electric motor with a capacity of 204 hp. (mounted on the front axle) and a battery with a capacity of 64 kWh, a range of about 450 km according to the WLTP cycle.

Jaecoo models are planned to be brought to Russia in the second half of this year. The timing of the appearance of our electric Exeed Exlantix E03 and Omoda C5 e-QUA has not yet been announced.
