Kia has expanded the geography of sales of the modernized SUV, and in some places the model, along with a new look and interior, also got a new engine.
The debut market for the restyled Kia Seltos crossover was native Korea, where sales began last year. Later, such an SUV reached Australia, North America and Kazakhstan. And now the upgraded cross starts in China: the public premiere was held as part of the Shanghai Motor Show. As usual, the «celestial» SUV has its own characteristics.

The main thing is that only after restyling, the local SUV turned into, in fact, Seltos, because the pre-reform model was positioned there as the second generation Kia KX3 (by the way, the “first” cross in China failed miserably). Externally, the “five-door” as a whole has changed in the same way as the global version: the crossover has received a new grille, bumpers and headlights. Additional luminous elements also flaunt on the grille, and the taillights are now in the form of a single plate with “fangs”. At the same time, a fog lamp was installed in the rear bumper of the Chinese Seltos (the model for Korea and America does not have such an element, but the version for Australia does).
Compared to the previous Chinese KX3, the length increased by 40 mm to 4385 mm (the “world” updated Seltos is slightly longer — 4390 mm), the increase in height was 5 mm (now 1650 mm). The width and wheelbase have not changed — 1800 and 2630 mm respectively.
Like the rest of the restyled crossovers, a scoreboard appeared in the cabin of the «celestial» Kia Seltos, that is, a virtual tidy and a touchscreen of a multimedia system hidden under one glass (each display with a diagonal of 10.25 inches). Note that the interior of the pre-reform KX3 is modeled after the Indian Seltos: there was also a single body inside, but the instruments were recessed (besides, they are analog). But the Chinese updated SUV has its own climate control unit, as well as the central tunnel and the gear lever (the washer that Seltos has in Korea is not allowed for the Chinese).

In China, the crossover retained the four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol 1.5 (115 hp, 84 Nm), it is still combined with a CVT. But at the same time, Seltos was first offered in China with a “turbo four” — this is a 1.4 engine with a capacity of 140 hp. (242 Nm), it is paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. The local Seltos does not have all-wheel drive — only the front.

The price of an updated SUV starts at $ 16,000.
Meanwhile, in Russia you can now find pre-reform Chinese-made Kia KX3 crossovers, which were brought under the parallel import scheme. Therefore, the refreshed model made in China can also reach the Russian Federation.
