In St. Petersburg, it is planned to launch the production of Chinese cars under the LADA brand. Negotiations are now underway with Chinese partners, but the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said that new items will appear before they are certified in their country.
“And certification — this is a very long process, approximately nine months. It's like giving birth to a child. And therefore, our immediate plans, as I have already announced, will be related to the opening and launch of a conveyor in St. Petersburg on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, — Sokolov noted.
At the same time, the top manager said that AVTOVAZ does not intend to compete with Chinese automakers, but plans to join them and produce their products. Apparently this is due to the fact that in the LADA model range there are no direct competitors to cars from China and the Togliatti auto giant does not have the opportunity to develop a competitive product.
