Two petrol engines to choose from were predicted for the SUV, but the drive is most likely only front. The model should make its premiere in the coming months.
Hyundai already has a couple of small crossovers in its range — the global Venue and the Casper, presented exclusively in Korea. And soon the line of compacts will be expanded: a “five-door” is being prepared for the debut, which received the name Exter. India will become the main market for the new SUV, production will be launched there, while local specialized media write that the model will also be supplied to other developing countries. The silhouette of the Hyundai Exter was shown by the Indian division in mid-April, and now a second, almost complete picture has appeared.
Judging by the image, the fresh crossover will have a rather brutal design, and outwardly the model will have something in common with the next generation Hyundai Santa Fe. The latest SUV has not yet been presented, but we have already seen a test prototype of Santa with a similar “square” nose and head optics with the letters H (the Exter has running lights in the form of these letters). Other features of the compact SUV are a protective insert on the front bumper and a wide embossed radiator grille.

Some Indian media believe that the local Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback was taken as the basis for the Exter. The length of the Grand is 3815 mm, the wheelbase is 2450 mm. Well, for comparison, the dimensions of the mentioned Venue (in the Indian specification) and Casper: 3995/2500 and 3595/2400 mm, respectively. (83 hp) from the Grand i10 Nios and the “turbo engine” 1.0 (the Grand lost it after restyling, it produced 100 hp on the pre-reform hatch). Boxes — «mechanics» or «robot». The drive is probably exclusively front.

В In India, a new crossover is expected in August, although the premiere may be held earlier. Probably, the Hyundai Exter will be more expensive than the Grand i10 Nios (from 573,400 rupees or from 569,000 rubles at the current exchange rate), but cheaper than the Venue (from 771,600 rupees or 765,000 rubles).
