The episode of the children's cartoon Bluey was edited to remove the scene discussing weight loss after critics said it was a cathophobia.

During an episode of the popular Australian TV show about a family of dogs, Bluey's parents complain about their weight gain, while Bluey's father holds his stomach with his hands.< /p>

The offending moment of a few seconds has now been removed.

The parents are said to have been “disappointed” with what they considered “toxic” messages. .

“Big Bluey fan but watching Bandit and Chilli weigh themselves and openly hate their bodies in front of the kids was very embarrassing,” Kayla Ringrose, pediatric nutritionist, wrote on Instagram.

“Kids don’t do this . you have to watch your parents hate your body or play sports to lose weight.”

However, Dr. Nick Coatsworth, former Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Australia, criticized the decision to edit the episode, tweeting, “Stop editing Bluey.”

Earlier this month, Karl Stefanovich, host of Australia's Channel Nine Today, also defended the episode, telling critics to “let it rest.”

He added that the episode accurately describes a situation that “plays out in families throughout Australia.”

BBC Studios will also feature an edited version

In the episode titled “Exercise,” Bluey's father is weighed in the bathroom while his son takes a bath.

“Oh my god… I just need to get some exercise,” Bandit says.

“Tell me about it,” Chili, Bluey's mother, replies.

The Bandit then looks at himself in the mirror, holding his sides.

“Why don't you just do some exercise? ” asks Bluey.

It was now airing on Australian ABC without a scene.

The episode now starts at the 1:13 mark, showing the Thug trying to work out while Bluey and Bingo to try and turn it into a game in their garden.

BBC Studios will also be releasing an edited version of the “Exercises” episode.

An ABC spokesperson said: “The new version provides families with the ability to manage important talking in their own way.

“As the home of Bluey, ABC supports the decision to rewire the program, and we've updated the release on our platforms.”
