Updated Nissan Almera: the brand is teasing, but the design is no longer a secret

The current generation compact Nissan sedan debuted in 2019, and it has several names: in the countries of North and South America, the model is called Versa, in the Middle East it is known as Sunny, but in Southeast Asia it is Almera (no relation to the deceased Russian Almera). has, our version was an analogue of BlueBird Sylphy). At the end of last year, the North American version survived restyling, but now it's the turn of the Asian «four-door»: the modernized Nissan Almera was announced by the Thai office of the brand.

The company has so far published the only and uninformative teaser of the compact, but local media are sure that Almera will be updated in the same way as the American Versa. The latest restyling brought a different grille — with horizontal slats and additional lining on the sides (they can be chrome-plated). The front bumper has also been retouched.

There are few new things in the interior of the Versa — other finishing materials, plus a wireless charger for a smartphone appeared at the base of the center console. The reforms did not affect the Nissan Versa technology, the restyled Almera is also likely to be offered with the same engine. In the States, the sedan is presented with a 1.6 petrol “aspirated” (124 hp), which is paired with a five-speed “mechanics” or a CVT. But in Southeast Asia, the model is sold with a 1.0 petrol “turbo engine” (100 hp): in Thailand, the engine is combined exclusively with CVT, although in other countries of the region you can also choose 5MKP.

The modernized Nissan Almera sedan will make its official premiere on May 11 this year. Later, the South American Versa and the Middle Eastern «four-door» Sunny should be updated.
